Fireplace & Firebox Repair
The firebox is the workhorse of your fireplace system — it contains the direct heat and combustion of every fire you light. Over years of use, the refractory mortar joints between firebricks crack, the firebricks themselves can spall or fracture, and the smoke chamber above the firebox can develop holes or openings in its parging coat. Any of these failures allows combustion temperatures and gases to reach the surrounding framing, creating a serious fire hazard that your homeowner's insurance may not cover if damage occurs.
Robert's Chimney Service performs complete firebox assessments and repairs, including replacement of individual cracked firebricks, full repointing of deteriorated mortar joints with refractory (high-temperature) mortar, smoke chamber parging using UL-listed smoke chamber sealant, and replacement of fractured or missing refractory panels in prefabricated factory-built fireplaces. We work carefully to match brick colors and textures in masonry fireboxes wherever possible.
If your firebox mortar crumbles when you scratch it with a key, you see cracks wider than 1/8 inch between bricks, or you notice a burnt or charred smell when the fireplace is not in use, those are signs of firebox damage requiring immediate attention. Call +1 (980) 480-4169 to schedule a firebox evaluation. We serve all of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County Monday through Sunday.
